Damiens Story
My background is in building services, including electrical, building management systems and structured cabling, since 1996, originally as General Manager of Krone (NZ) Technique. During this period, I joined the Telecommunications Education and Skills Standards Organisation (TESSO) which developed unit standards for the ETITO as a board member and Chairman.
My role expanded in 2004 to Sales Director for the ADC Krone Enterprise business for Australia and New Zealand. After the acquisition of ADC Krone by Tyco Electronics (later TE Connectivity) I was appointed as Business Director for Australia/New Zealand. I formed Multimedia Connect NZ in 2012, specialising in structured cabling sales and support, followed by appointment to lead the national data and technology business at Ideal Electrical. In 2021, I joined Active Electrical Suppliers to form and head their new data and technology business (current position).
My role in the CIANZ is as a dedicated committee member specialising in association compliance. I believe we need to address the lack of any formal career pathway for structured cabling installers, in order to recruit and retain the talent that underpins all enterprise networks.
